A note about the cost and about the strategy we use to raise the necessary funds for this and other missions trips.  Since our first trip in 2003 to Nicaragua, God has provided and made a way for every person who has joined a team and said 'here am I, send me.'  Here is the strategy: First, we break the cost into thirds.  The first third we raise outside the church from businesses and individuals who donate to this cause of seeing our Bakersfield young people exposed to and used in third world environment.  The next third of the cost is what each team member raises through our church sponsored fundraisers such as the Outback steakhouse fundraiser, presale fireworks and quarter auction.  If a team member raises more than a third of the cost with these fundraisers, then the last third (which is what each team member and family must contribute) becomes less.  If the team member raises less than a third through the fundraisers, then the final portion in which he/she and thier family must contribute will become greater.  To help with the last portion, team members send out letters to family and firends asking for thier support.  As I mentioned above, no team member has ever failed to work hard and riase the necessary funds for any of our past trips to Nicaragua, Romania, Zimbabwe and Haiti.  Will you trust God?  Will you be one who steps out and says, I'll do whatever it takes and then trust God for the rest?

The third world is waiting for you.
